How We Roast Our Beans

Catfish Coffee is roasted carefully, in small batches. The process is reminiscent of a chef carefully attending the creation of a delicate dish.

The entire roasting process for a mere 5 lbs takes approximately 15 minutes, depending on the beans.

The roasting process finished, the beans are dropped steaming hot so they can cool. In approximately 12 hours, the beans will begin exuding their fragrance, creating that heavenly smell you can only get from fresh roasted coffee.

From bottom to top, the beans at different stages of the roasting process. The third from the bottom is at “first crack”; the next one is at second crack. The final bean looks very different, much more “finished”, with a beautiful dark color.
